Kickoff time

Friday night the Piggott Mohawks will host the Valley View Blazers for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff at Parker Field. The Tribe and the Blazers are meeting for the first time on the gridiron, but are old foes when it comes to basketball and volleyball. Both teams made it to the first round of the playoffs last year, and both squads fell in that first round by fairly wide margins.

The season opener against the Blazers should be a good contest, and the folks from Valley View should have a big crowd on hand.

I encourage everyone able to come out and support the Mohawks as they begin their 31st season of play on Parker Field. The weather is shaping up to be great, and there's nothing better than a large and vocal crowd to get a football team fired-up.

That's another point I have addressed in the past, the need for just a little more team spirit in the Piggott bleachers. It's okay to yell at a football game, that's one of the reasons for going. And when the cheerleaders say "All for Piggott stand up and holler"..they mean you too.

Let's show just a little more spirit and make some noise Friday night, and let's show the folks from south Jonesboro how we've been rooting for the Piggott Mohawk football team since the late 1920's..at least somebody has if not you and me.
