Lady Mohawks off to state volleyball tournamentPosted Friday, October 24, 2008, at 11:19 AM
The 2008 Lady Mohawk volleyball team includes, from left: Front--Whitley Blue, Mollie Osburn, Penny McCluskey, Kaitlin Morgan, Jenna Brown and Taelor Lewis. Back--Kelsey Allman, Breanna Yates, Kenna Dennis, Kelsey Nagy, Allison Lambert and Taylor Coomer. The team is coached by Melissa Williams and Josh Robins.
With a win on Tuesday the Lady Mohawks will advance to take on the Cave City Cavewomen at noon on Wednesday in round two. If the girls can get by the Cavewomen they'll likely face the Falcons of Crowleys' Ridge Academy in the semi-finals..in a game that will be played at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 30. The winner of that match will advance to Saturday's state championship match at Conway High School with a 1 p.m. start time. Based on the lower half of the bracket there is a good possibility that two-time defending state champion Brookland will advance to the final...and that could set up an all 3A-Northeast championship game against either the Lady Mohawks or the Lady Falcons. Good luck to the Lady Mohawks at Harrison, and hopefully Conway..and we'll have all the details in the Nov. 5 print edition of The Piggott Times. |
