Colby Lovelace was the star for the Tribe, as he hit two home runs and drove in five in a 12-10 win over Hoxie in the district at Corning. Lovelace also came on in relief of starter Alek Samples in the top of the second, and got the win. The win advances the Mohawks into the semi-finals as they're scheduled to take on Manila at 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 3. The game was originally set for Saturday, but wet field conditions forced the change. In the early game Friday at Corning it was Rivercrest over Brookland 11-7 as the Colts advance to take on the Tuckerman Bulldogs at 4 p.m. Monday afternoon in the early game. All four of the teams involved in play today, including the Mohawks, have already earned a berth in next week's regional tournament at Tuckerman. Meanwhile, the Lady Mohawks ended their season with a 5-20 loss at the hands of the Lady Bearcats in their district at Hoxie. |
