The Gaithers are ComingPosted Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at 12:11 AM
Oh my. Now July is almost gone. Soon summer vacation will be a memory. Labor Day, first day of school, both are just around the corner. But first -- THE GAITHER'S ARE COMING!! Yes, next week. Are you ready? Are you excited? I hope you have your tickets, because it is a sellout. It is going to be so good.
I guess the biggest news this week is the fire at the old lumber yard, aka the Rector Pallet Company. It breaks my heart to lose a land mark like that. It has been here forever. When I was coming here in the summers, the Fielders owned it. I loved to go with my grandfather when he shopped for hardware. When my husband and I moved here in 1994, you could get almost anything there: paint, lumber, pool supplies, keys, stove pipe and garden items just to name a few. It was a smaller version of Lowe's without the appliances or the drive. Between Napa and the hardware store/lumber yard we could get almost anything we needed and get it in a hurry. Lane Wozniak spent a week with her son at his home in Reno NV. She went to help celebrate his birthday and celebrate, they did. A friend of Josh's had party for him on Saturday. They were high in the mountains over Reno and had an opportunity to watch an electrical storm from a distance. Lane says it was quite a light show. Mother Nature really can be spectacular. Welcome home. Candy Hill, Nancy Kemp and Cathy Louder had a "girl's get-a-way" last week. They spent Wednesday through Friday at the Village Creek State Park just outside of Wynn. It was really kickback. They ate well, watched chick flicks and did a lot of visiting and a little shopping. On Thursday they went into Forrest City and visited the shop Chez Weenie. Yes that is really the name. The owner's name is Edwine and her nickname is Weenie, so of course the shop is Chez Weenie. Candy says it is full of unique and adorable gift items. We may have to check this out. I had my driver's license renewed last week. That is one of the many times I am glad to be able to get that done right here in town. All those years in San Diego, driver's license renewal was a half day affair of long lines and grumpy clerks and even grumpier bosses. Thank you Sarah, I really appreciate you. That's about all for this week. Let me know what goes on with you. I love hearing all your fun stuff and I love sharing it with everyone else. My address is 514 West 3rd St. Phone: (870) 595-3173 and email: porchswing@newwavecomm.net. Our prayers are always with our soldiers!! |
