Welcome to Spring

Posted Sunday, March 21, 2010, at 3:09 PM

March 15

Welcome to spring everyone! How did you fare in that little hissy fit of a storm Mother Nature threw at us last week? I think we have finally found all our porch furniture and most of the cushions. I can look around and see fences down, siding hanging loose and even structural damage to some houses. Pretty intense for a storm that only lasted a few minutes. Hang on to your hats, this might be an exciting springtime.

St. Patrick's Day is this week. I love St. Paddy's Day. I'm sort of short so I feel a kinship to the leprechauns and I am always looking for that pot of gold. I've been watching Irish themed movies and listening to Celtic Woman to get myself ready for the celebratin' of the green.

The day before St. Patrick's Day is my great niece's birthday. Samantha Vineyard will be 11 years old. Quite the little lady these days. She is the daughter of Travis Vineyard and Amanda Pruett Vineyard. She also has two devilishly handsome brothers and they all live in Humble, TX. Too far away if you ask me.

The DooWop Band is going to be at the Collins Theater in Paragould again in April. If you saw them before, I know you will want to go again and if you haven't seen them you definitely want to. The performance's are April 2 and 3. Tickets will go on sale March 22 at Now and Then on Front Street and at Glenn Sain Motors on Highway 49. My guess is they will sell out quickly so hurry to get yours. If you want a preview, check out this YouTube video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AF9NxrO07...

There is also a tribute to Elvis Presley April 9 and 10 in which several members of the band will participate. You might want to check into that too.

Guess it is time to go. I have to go out and buy the corned beef and cabbage for the St. Paddy Day dinner. And maybe some shamrocks and .... Maybe find that leprechaun! Let me know what goes on with you and yours. My address is 514 West 3rd St. Phone: (870) 595-3173 and email: porchswing@newwavecomm.net.

God bless our soldiers.
