What a beautiful Easter we had. We could not have asked for better weather, could we? It was absolutely perfect all week end and today too. Except for Easter Sunday, the sound of lawnmowers has been never ceasing. I love the fragrance of roses drifting through the open windows. God is good and all is perfect.
You know what else is perfect? Jessie Malin is home and doing fine after her surgery. She has not yet learned the meaning of "taking it easy", but that is just Jessie. Steve and Mary Malin spent the weekend with her, making sure she did not want for company. Cathy Louder and her family were also there. It was Easter, after all. There was much celebrating and much food to be consumed.
Lane Wozniak spent Easter with her son Josh in Gilbert, AZ. She, Josh and his special lady friend, Karen had dinner out one evening and then spent much of the rest of the weekend veg'ing on Karen's back patio enjoying the mild Arizona weather. Sunday they visited with Karen's aunt and uncle where they had dinner with the family and watched as the youngsters hunted for Easter egg. Lane will be on her way home later this evening.
I was late getting started on the column this week, because I was simultaneously chatting with a friend in Singapore and my step-daughter in San Diego. I got sort of carried away with catching up. This technology is positively amazing. The really amazing thing is that I didn't confuse myself and tell the wrong thing to the wrong person. Maybe I am not too old to learn new things. I love being able to keep in touch with people far away.
I hope you saw our own Haven Cagle on the Midday Show on KAIT8 today. She was talking about the Arkansas Arts Advocacy Day she has personally lobbied for. Proclamations are signed and sealed by the governor and the mayor(s) to observe April 17 as Arts Advocacy Day. Haven is the reigning Northeast Arkansas Outstanding Teen. Her platform is "All 4 the Arts" so advocating for all the arts is not new to Haven. Next Tuesday at 10:00 the Clay County Arts Council will sponsor a balloon release at the Rector Downtown Park across the street from Now and Then. Come out and celebrate with us.
Please be careful out there. There have been so many vehicle accidents lately and so many lives have ended. Don't become the next statistic. Driving is something that needs your full attention and the repercussions of not observing that can end your life or someone elses. Be safe.
Remember to check Genny's Kitchen's Facebook page to see the menu for the week. It is all good.
