Wind and RainPosted Monday, April 16, 2012, at 1:30 PM
We had a little wind on Sunday, didn't we? Sort of cleaned off any lingering debris from the trees and bushes, porches, roofs, etc. I think I have a good portion of some of the nearby fields covering my furniture. We can't complain though. We dodged the really nasty stuff and ended up with a much needed soaking rain. This morning is cool and sunny everything outside is clean and bright. Life is good.
Candy Hill spent a few days in Northwest Arkansas. Thursday and Friday she was hiking in Newton County around the Jasper and Lost Valley area. She says it was beautiful there with the fresh green of the trees and the gorgeous wild flowers blooming everywhere. She stayed in a lovely cabin overlooking the valley outside of Jasper. Then she went on to Eureka Springs to spend the weekend with Cyndi Corkran. She and Cyndi had a very nice visit, of course. As always Cyndi said to say "Hello" to all of you. We miss you, Cyndi.
We said good-by to Mr. Weldon Wimberly last week. He was a great part of the Rector community for his whole life. He will be missed.
Martha Winchester of St. Francis also will be missed. Our prayers are with both families.
Jessie Malin continues to improve. She has had to learn a new role and the meaning of "take it easy." Cathy Louder and Steve Malin, her children have been right there to teach her how to let others take care of her for a little while.
And by-the-way Cathy added another year to her age last week. Happy birthday a little late, Cathy.
The Rector Community Center committee is taking orders right now for Boston Butts and pork steaks to be ready the Saturday before Mother's Day, May, 12. Yes, that can be used as a hint. Mother's Day is May 13. Don't Forget!! And don't forget to order your Boston butt and/or pork steak. Call me to place an order.
Don't forget the Chamber of Commerce Banquet on Thursday. Genny's Kitchen is catering it.
Also coming up is the Helping Hands Concert in May. I think there are a few tickets left so hurry and get yours.
I guess you've heard that we can now see Linda Robinson's smiling face at the Water Department and at the Community Center. Well that's good. I like seeing her around.
Guess it is time for me to end this and get on with the day. Thanks for sharing your news with us. Let me know what is going on with you. You can email me at: firstname.lastname@example.org or call me (870) 595-3173. You can even drop me a line at 514 West 3rd St., Rector AR. Bye for now. Stay safe and enjoy today. We can sing in the sunshine.
Bless our military everywhere.

Christa is proud to call herself a true Rector native. Although she was raised on the Texas Gulf Coast, she was born right here on Hickman St. As an adult she traveled and lived in several places before deciding it was time to come home in 1994. She has been active in the community and enjoys watching the world go by from her front porch.
