Well, it is almost Labor Day. I love this time of year. There is so much hustle and bustle around town that it is hard to believe. The carnival rides are already set. Is everything all spiffied up? Anyone wanting to help with food can make your purchases at Harp's and they will deliver to the community center. Bring pies and deserts to the center Monday.
There are still a few tickets left for the Ultimate Oldies show on Saturday. Rector Water Department, Now and Then and Glen Sain's all have some. The Community Center committee has acquired a few more padded chairs, but there will still be a lot of folding chairs in the theater and seating will be on a first come, first serve basis. If you feel like bringing a cushion, it would be all right.
Parking will be available at the rear of the Rector Community Center and golf carts will be running to assist in getting everyone to the door. Also Handicapped Parking will be expanded to include all the spaces in the front of the community center. Y'all come on down. It is going to be such a good show.
Lane Wozniak and I made a whirlwind trip to Bedford Kentucky this week-end so Lane could visit with her sister Armaline and niece Shannon. I went on a little further to Madison, IN which is a lovely little town with cute shops and 20 or more pizza places. Right on the Ohio River and very quaint and pretty.
It was a little disturbing to see so much sand showing at the Mississippi River crossings. The river is really suffering right now. And of course the cotton is coming in so rain is gonna make some people happy and some not so happy.
Well there is too much to do this week for me to dawdle over this column. Let me know who is in town for the festivities and I will share the news. I love that our town celebrates the working people in such style. Makes me proud, you know.
Guess it is time to go. Let me know what is going on with you. You can email me at: firstname.lastname@example.org or call me (870) 595-3173. You can even drop me a line at 514 West 3rd St., Rector AR 72461. Stay cool, have fun and be safe. See you at the Picnic!
Bless our military.
