October 1Posted Monday, October 1, 2012, at 12:49 PM
Ah, the first day of October, a gateway to my favorite time of year. I am looking forward to the blaze of autumn foliage, the first frost, pumpkins and apples and the smell of wood smoke in the air. Fall gives me such a feeling of coziness. Time to bake and create and gather. Time to prepare for winter. Time reflect on our blessings. But first, Halloween.
You may have noticed that I am having my porch painted. Thanks to Cathy Diddle, she who seemingly cannot be still for a single waking moment.
Since I am aware of the power of prayer and this community seems to have a special connection, I want to ask for prayers for someone who could use a little help. I don't want to cause this person any embarrassment so I am asking that you send some strong prayers out for those who need them most and don't know how to ask for them.
Don't forget to stop by Genny's Kitchen Saturday evening for some good food and a little gospel singing.
I want to remind you again of the new taxi service here in Rector. Call (870) 324-1435 if you need a ride.
My friend Paula Benton has decided to move back to Texas to be near her sons. When her oldest son Jeff had emergency surgery recently and she was so far away, she realized she wanted to be closer to them to offer help if something like this arises again. She will miss Rector and all the friends she has made here. We all wish her the very best and understand the need to be close to family.
In case you aren't aware, I have a cute little house for sale at 514 McNabb. Take a look if you are in the market.
And don't forget that the Clay County Arts Council will be presenting a fashion show on November 1 at the Sugar Creek Country Club in Piggott. There will be models of all ages so if you are interested in strutting your stuff call Gail Burns at (870) 240-3014. The seating for this is very limited so get your tickets early.
It is important that you register to vote. Let your voice be heard.
I suppose that's all I have for today. Let me know what is going on with you. You can email me at: email@example.com or call me (870) 595-4997. You can even drop me a line at 514 West 3rd St., Rector AR 72461.
Bless our military.
Christa is proud to call herself a Rector native having been born here. After living elsewhere, she just couldn't stay away! She has now lived in Rector for over 14 years. During this time, Christa has been very active in the community and is the one to go to for current happenings in the area.
