Hello everyone! It’s August already. Where does the time go? Vacation is almost over. We have been having some nice weather for August, at least it seems nice to us regular people. I think the cotton farmers may not be as thrilled as we are about these mild days and cool nights, but the cotton really looks pretty to me. I haven’t even had to whine and swoon this year as I complain about the heat. I should be quiet. That could change.
Jessie Malin and Rob and Cathy Louder, and their clan have been to Destin, FL for their annual beach vacation. Keit and Heidi Cohn were there with their kids, Mason, Hayden and Cooper as were David Cohn, Seth Cohn and Andrea, and Meagan Louder. Cousins, Lisa and J.D. Howard were there too. So were David and Amy Sanford. The sunshine wasn’t as loyal to them this year, but they found other interests on the rainy days, and cherished the sunshine when it was there. There was still plenty of good times and good food to go around.
Ann Stallcup made a trip to Little Rock last week for a few heart by-passes, five, actually. She is home now and has earned once more the title “tough lady”
Danny Holifield too is pretty much back to normal after getting a brand-new pace-maker implanted. I see that his sidewalk chalk art is coming along nicely too.
As I said, it’s August. You know what that means. All roads lead to the Rector Labor Day Picnic. The T-shirts are here and available for purchase at Centennial Bank, Honeysuckle & Home, Glen Sain Dealership and Rector Downtown Drug. I will get a picture of it on the website in a day or two. Don’t wait to get your shirts, they go more quickly every year.
The Ultimate Oldies will be back on Friday night, September 1 at the Community Center. Call Linda Robinson or Kim Romine at 870 595-3035 for tickets.
The 5K run/walk will be September 2 and will benefit the Helping Hands Foundation. Kim and David Romine and Heather Simmons will be hosting this event. I will have the information on the website later this week, and you can access the Rector Labor Day Picnic Facebook page as well for more information: https://www.facebook.com/groups/124099237732556/ . There will also be information on all the other events. Get ready! Labor Day is almost here.
With that, I will end this. Even when the temperatures are mild, it gets hot in parked cars. DO NOT leave pets or children in the car in this weather. They can die.
Let me know what is going on with you and I will be glad to share it with my readers. I would love to share your vacation stories. Email: firstname.lastname@example.org . Phone number (870) 595-4997. Check out the www.rectorarkansas.com from time to time. Let me know if anything needs to be added or changed. Bye now!
