We are midway through July already. The heat is on. We do however have a break today in the form of a rainy cool down. As the remnants of tropical storm/hurricane Barry swings through we are due to get another good soaking. Probably some flash flooding is in our future so be careful. I know you know this but please don’t drive through standing or rushing water. Just a few inches can wash your car off the road. Hopefully the sun will return by Wednesday.
Sarah Seay Vangilder was at the museum again this past Saturday and gave another Healthy Living class with a little assistance from Jessie Malin. This will be a regular event on the second Saturday of the month. Sarah and Jessie hope to share ideas, recipes, and suggestions for healthy living. It’s a free event and walk-ins are welcome. So, drop by, take a look around and stay healthy.
On Thursday, July 18 the Rector Community Museum will host another mini concert. This week we will be entertained by Melissa Edwards and Robert Layer. Every third Thursday at 7:00, the museum is the place to be. Come join us and enjoy the music. 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. Admission is free, but we will pass the hat to pay the musicians.
I also want to remind you that you may donate items of local interest to the museum. They are particularly interested in memorabilia from the Ford Theater right now as they are working on a Ford Theater Room in the Museum.
I am sorry to report that the Rector Medical Clinic has closed its doors. The Piggott Hospital Clinic is still open and taking patients.
School starts here on August 13, just a month away so get out there and have some summer fun while you can.
That’s it for this week. Watch for the storms, stay cool, when you can and enjoy all the summer activities that make you happy.
Warnings include: Don’t leave children, pets or elderly people in cars during the summer months. It gets hot really fast in a closed car. Also if you have outside pets, be sure they have shade, shelter and water.
What else is going on that you would like to see in this column. Give me a heads up and I will share it with everyone else. Email: email@example.com . Phone number (870) 595-4997. Check out your Rector, Arkansas website: www.rectorarkansas.com from time to time. I love to be told I need to update it and I take all suggestions to heart. Take a look.
Goodbye for now.
