Why is Peggy Johnson's column, "From These Hills" not online? It is usually the first thing I read in the Piggott Times, and am disappointed not to find it listed in your online paper.

Give them some time, I think everything is going to be online eventually.

Paragould Reader,

I enjoy Peggy's column, too, and now we can both read it online! You'll find it here:

I was wondering if you are going to put the classifieds online? Thank you

-- Posted by Holcomb Reader on Fri, May 23, 2008, at 4:35 PM

Holcomb Reader,

Yes, we plan on including classifieds. However, because our paper shares classified ads with a number of other papers, it is taking some time to change the system to allow publishing ads across all the different papers' sites.

Sorry for the delay. They should be up and running within the next few weeks.

Do people in Piggott know how successful Harry Carroll Gambill has become? Very! Check him out online. I'm so proud of him, and glad that we were friends in Piggott in the 50's and 60's.

From the same era as Harry Carroll, was there ever an obituary for Sue Stewart Grasso in the Times? Sue was a wonderful girl who had a great college career as the featured twirler at ASU. After graduation she became a flight attendant and then retired with her husband to Florida. She was a great gal who will be remembered by many readers of the Times.

Also, I saw a nice article in the new Talk Business Quarterly out of Little Rock about Mark Duckworth. I would say he and Harry Carroll are two small town boys who have definitely done well for themselves.

How does one check out Harry Carroll Gambill on line? Does he have a web site? It is hard to sort things out at Google Search.

My thoughts don't really seem to fit the topics addressed in the above topics, yet I believe it is of great importance.

I can't help but wonder how Christians are standing by & letting God's name be used in vain on T.V. & almost all movies, as well as them all having some type of homosexual connection. This both are sins & I am scared for all of us who do not stand up against it. What is this teaching our children & grandchildren? David was one young child & he took down the gaint with God behind him & God is behind us still today if we stand up for him & do what is right!

I think that it might be Kent Greene #22 in the undated picture of the Mohawks running onto the field on the slide show. Kent graduated from PHS in 1969. I would be interested in knowing for sure. If it is Kent then others could be recognized by number.

The last thing I remember being in the paper regarding former band director Tracy Meadows was his grand jury indictment on 02/07/07. He was found guilty of child pornography distribution and sentenced to 215 months and 10 years of supervised release. With good behavior the projected release is 2023. According to the BOP website, he is at FCI Forrest City. The 02/07 article was very careful to ensure we all understood that he was innocent until proven guilty. Was anything printed about his guilt or subsequent sentencing?

The Class of 1958 had our 50th reunion in Piggott on July 5th and had a wonderful time. We had lunch together on the 4th at the picnic grounds and dinner at the Piggott Diner on Sat. evening. I want to thank everyone for coming and having a great time. 35 of our classmates were there from several different States. The total at the dinner was 63 with our guests.

I watched the 4th of July parade this past week and was sad to see the Piggott marching band out of uniform. I understand the "heat" is hard on kideos in July, but summer uniforms could have been worn! It makes a better statement, teaches pride in what one is doing, and just "should" be a matter of discipline to "dress for an occasion."

The Piggott marching band represented the educational system in Piggott. What did being sloppy teach them?
