This December, 1947, Christmas Ad, reminds us of the folks that were employed by Mr. Curt Frets, at his Service Station and his retail Coal Business, during the late 1940's.
Three of Curt and Vinnie Sommersett Frets' sons were working for Dad in late 1947. The couple's oldest son, Raymond, was 39 at this time. Son, Jack, was 29, and Joe was 24 years old. These 3 brothers had a sister, 45 year old Hazel, who was married to 51 year old employee, Lige Coats.
Employee John Dooley, was 51 years old and was married to Bertha Cavaness. 29 year old Elmer Dooley was married to Willie Mae Bass. Your writer is unaware of any kinship between John and Elmer. Employee, Darrell Wallace, was 31 years old in 1947, and his wife was Eudora. Their son will be remembered as David Wallace.
Floella Lamb was perhaps the secretary at one of Curt Frets' businesses? 19 year old, Floella, would marry Robert Toone at the end of the following month (Jan. 1948). Employee, John Medlin, was 55 years old this Christmas season and was married to Alta. Mr. Medlin had been delivering for Curt Frets' coal business for several years.
46 year old, Verlie Collier, is our last named employee, and was married to Maria Barnhart.
Any further information on these folks would be appreciated.
