The Campbell Citizen
B.W. Overall and Son
January 31, 1902
Mrs. C.V Barber was born February 14, 1836, and died January 24, 1902, age 65 years, 11 months, and 10 days. Mrs. Barber died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry Huggins on Rose Hill here and carried to Rector, Arkansas, and interred in the Liberty Hill Cemetery.
Sister Barber became a Christian at an early age, joined the Missionary Baptist Church and lived a consistent Christian life until her demise. She leaves seven children, two sons and five daughters, and many friends to mourn her death, but our loss is her gain.

Mrs. Charlotte Virginia Crews Barber migrated from Weakley County, Tenn., with her husband, James A. Barber, about 1869. They settled in the Liberty Hill- Blooming Grove area north of what would later become Rector. They were parents of four children when they left Tennessee, Billeps Riley Barber, Mary Adeline Barber, John W. Barber and Ola Ida Barber. Daughters, Sarah Jane "Sallie" Barber, Martha D. "Mattie" Barber and Emma S. Barber, were born in Arkansas.
Billeps Riley Barber, born in 1861, married Lucy Magdelene Kennedy in 1883 in Clay County. Lucy died in 1913 and is buried at Liberty Hill Cemetery. Your writer has not found B. Riley Barber's death date or burial location. Mary Adeline Barber married Benjamin Jeffress in 1884 and died in Sikeston, Mo., in 1956.
John W. Barber married Alice Mary Wagner in 1891. John died in Louisiana in 1948 and was brought back to Rector to be buried in Woodland Heights Cemetery. I have not found death date and burial for his wife, Alice Wagner. Ola Ida Barber married James Franklin Copeland in 1886 (he died in 1905). She then married James Meriwether in 1907 (he died in 1914). Ola's third husband was James H. Campbell, whom she married in 1917 (he died in 1936). Ola died in 1943 and is buried in Mitchell Cemetery at Greenway.
Sarah Jane "Sallie" Barber married Joseph L. Copeland in the mid-1880's. Joseph died in 1899 and is buried in Mary's Chapel Cemetery. Sarah Jane married J.W. Stoker in 1904 and he died in 1909 and is buried next to Sarah Jane's first husband, Mr. Copeland. She then married Benjamin G. Jones, from Dunklin County, Mo., in 1917. He died before 1920. Sarah Jane "Sallie" lived with her oldest son, Ezra C. Copeland, during the 1920's and traveled with his family when they moved to Florida. Sarah Jane Barber Copeland Stoker Jones died and was buried in Florida in 1949.
Martha D. "Mattie" Barber married Henry Huggins in the early 1890's and lived near Campbell, Mo., until she died in 1911. Our news article this week details that her mother, Charlotte Virginia Crews Barber, was living with Martha when she died in 1902. Daughter Martha died just nine years after her mother passed away and is also buried in Liberty Hill Cemetery next to Charlotte Virginia and her father, James A. Barber, who died in 1884.
The youngest child of Charlotte Virginia and James A. Barber was Emma S. Barber, born in 1879. Emma married John Robertson in the mid-1890's, but died in 1904. Her burial place is unknown to your writer.
I would appreciate any further information on this family.
