2010 show in the works

Posted Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at 11:15 AM

Plans are near complete for the 12th annual Piggott Heritage Park Car Show and cruise, which is set for the weekend of May 21, 22 and 23.

This year the show returns to Heritage Park, after wet conditions forced the event to move to the Clay County Fairgrounds. And, although the fairgrounds proved to be a great substitute--it will be a joy to return to the beautiful shores of Heritage Park Lake.

Early registration will be going on all week at the Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce office, in the depot building adjacent to the railroad tracks on Main Street. Chamber Secretary Lynette Cale will be glad to take care of that, and answer any questions participants or visitors may have.

The Clay County Fair Association will be hosting events at the fairgrounds on Thursday evening, we'll have more details on that in the coming weeks. And, Friday evening the annual meal will be served at the Emmanuel Baptist Church (which is located across from the fairgrounds)

This year's breakfast will be served by the Piggott Lion's Club at the Piggott Community Center. That will be going on Saturday morning.

Of course, the remainder of the day the show will be going on at the park with live entertainment, games, fun for the kids and millions of dollars in chrome and steel. What more could you ask for?

We'll be feeding all the participants Saturday afternoon at the Emmanuel Baptist Church, and afterward will line-up for the annual cruise to the Piggott square.

Afterward, there will be live entertainment and more games and fun around the downtown area for the participants and public alike.

We'll wrap things up Sunday morning with coffee and donuts for the participants at the Piggott Community Center, followed by the awards ceremony.

We've already had calls from dozens of people wanting to attend the show for the first time, and there are some interesting new vendors already lined-up as well.

We also encourage participants to pre-register, if you do you'll be included in an early-bird drawing. If you're on our mailing list you should be getting your entry form any day, if you'd like to receive one contact Lynette at the chamber office at 870 598-3167. She's there Monday through Friday, or leave us a voice mail and we'll get back to you.

Suggestions are always welcome, and will be given full consideration. You can make those comments to me directly by email at piggotttimes@centurytel.net

The Board of Directors of the Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce, and the car show committee, want this to be the best event possible for our participants and spectators. We look forward to seeing everyone in May.

Tim Blair

Pres. Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce

Chairman, 2010 Piggott Heritage Park Car Show and Cruise
