Car show reminderPosted Friday, April 9, 2010, at 3:36 PM
The planning phase for the 12th annual Piggott Heritage Park Car Show and Cruise is over, and the final preparations are underway.
This year's show will be going on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, May 21, 22 and 23 with most of the activities taking place at beautiful Heritage Park on the west edge of Piggott. Participants are invited to come to town early in the week and visit all the great shops and the city's two museums. The Chamber of Commerce office in the depot building will be open daily for early check-in, information or just to visit. Stop by and we'll even open up the caboose. Kennett National Bank is co-sponsoring Friday night's chicken wing "early bird" dinner with the Emmanuel Baptist, and they'll be hosting the event. The church is located across from the fairgrounds and each participant will get two tickets to the feed. Afterward, we'll have live entertainment in the amphitheater at Heritage Park. Saturday morning from 6-10 the Piggott Lions Club will be holding a pancake breakfast at the community center and tickets are just $5. We'll be operating a shuttle for those who don't want to drive into town throughout the event. The show and shine will be going on all day, with judging set to begin at 11 a.m. We'll also have games for both the participants and the spectators, some bounce houses for the kids and the Piggott Fire Department will be showing off their new pumper truck. All the participants are invited to enjoy a pork steak dinner Saturday afternoon at the park, and each entry receives two tickets to that meal as well. Saturday evening the annual cruise to the courtsquare will be held, where entertainment will be provided by "Kenny and The Flashbacks" featuring some of the biggest hits of the 50's, 60's and 70's. Both the cruise, and the evening under the lights, have become participant and spectator favorites. Sunday morning we'll gather at the park for coffee and donuts, followed by the awards ceremony. We hope you will come and be a part of the show, either as a participant or as a spectator. Early registration will be going on until May 1, and all entries recieved by that date will be included in a cash drawing. The entry fee is $30 per vehicle if postmarked by May 1, and $35 per vehicle after that date and at the show. Multiple entries from the same owner recieve a $10 discount per vehicle. Your entry fee gets you two tickets for the chicken dinner on Friday, two tickets for the pork steak dinner Saturday, a 2010 dash plaque, a framed pelon of the car show logo for this year, entry to the show grounds, entry into the judging, entry into the cruise, a CD of photos from earlier shows and some other goodies. We appreciate all our longtime and new participants, we couldn't have a show without you! And we appreciate all the hard work that went on before us, as the show was grown by a enthusiastic group of organizers that are difficult to replace. We also encourage everyone to attend the annual Bunny Run Car Show, in Jackson, Tenn. They've always supported our show, and we encourage everyone to support theirs--below is an informational release on the event.
