Frozen Moments in TimePosted Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at 2:04 PM
Oh my stars.....if you missed the "Celebration of the Arts" dinner on Saturday night, June 5 at the Rector Community Center you missed a fabo time!! I love these events! I remember the first one I went to..My son B. K. must have been in 9th grade. That night in December was the annual "Night of Chocolate", the Clay County Arts Council hosted a wonderful jazz band from Jonesboro and BK loves jazz. So even though, I really couldn't afford it at that time in our lives, I bought two tickets. BK and I dressed up and went down to the community center for a night that will be forever burned into my memory. I remember the twinkle lights, the chocolate fountain, and my son's glow of excitement. He looked so handsome in his blue sports jacket and khakis. The music was wonderful, the evening was enchanting and no other night will ever hold a candle to the wonderful time we shared together that crispy night in December. I have been to several of the Clay County Arts Council events since that time, but none do I hold as dear. Now, BK lives in California, and I miss those times together so much I ache. He will be 25 in July, but thanks to Mrs. Burns and her devotion to the Arts, I can always remember that 15 year old boy, all dressed up and enjoying his time with me....his mom. $50 tickets to dinner, $100 for a sports jacket and slacks and frozen moment in time.....PRICELESS.

Barbi, when you get my age, at 48ish, o, i guess i should go ahead and say it, (48), now that feels better. I have a 19 year old boy and a 16 year old girl that i have spent a lot of time with, but always thinking that i should have spent more time than i had. As i grow older i realize so much of my childhood, rooting for the rector black cats, then the clay county cougars and memories of our classmates, it seems to grow dimer everyday. I look forward now to time spent with grand kids.....that i don't have yet, someday that will happen to. the fishing trips and the dates with my little girl, they were all so priceless.....at one time i could have picked a particular moment but now they were all so spactacular.
Thanks for your comment Fielder Mouse!! I have lots of memories tooo!!! But I do love those BLACKCAT moments!!!
