Why are my tomato plants not setting fruit? I've had a lot of calls lately from clientele asking why their tomatoes are not setting fruit. There are two main reasons why tomatoes won't set fruit. The obvious reason we blame things on is the weather. This time it actually is one of the reasons. When nighttime temperatures remain over 72 degrees for four to six hours, the plant doesn't cool down enough and therefore tends to not set fruit.
