James William and Rebecca Eastman Harmon, of Adair County, Ky., had a family of eight children: Melinda Jane, Sarah E., George Washington, Priscilla Ann, Martha S., William Cyrus, Richard (a twin) and Christey “Chris” Harmon (a twin). George Washington and William Cyrus came to Clay County with their families in 1911 and are listed on the 1920 Clay County Census in Swain Township. They lived in adjoining households with Charles Lee, son of George Washington, having his own household.
George Washington Harmon (1879-1931) was born in Pulaski County, Ky., and died in his home in Nimmons, Ark., after an illness of nine weeks and two days, at the age of 51. He was married in Adair County, Ky., to Emma Belle Head on June 30, 1898. He moved with his family to Nimmons in 1911 from Kentucky. His children were: Charley Lee Roberts, Raymond, Welby, Marion Thomas, Carrie Opal, Ezra Aldin, Ruth, George Leonard, Amy and James R. Harmon. Vada Harmon Pulley was a daughter, or step-daughter, and was found listed both ways. No information was found for Vada. George W. and his wife Emma are buried in the Mitchell Cemetery at Greenway.
Charles Lee Harmon (1899-1975), son of George and Emma, was born in Kentucky and died in the Piggott Hospital. He's also buried in Mitchell Cemetery. He married Mary Gertie Ridgeway, daughter of George and Hester Ridgeway, in 1928 and they had 12 children: Fannie Bell Frazier, Lois Verble, Mary Beth Underwood, Bobby, Don, Carl, Royall Lester, Tom, Ed, Delaine, Wilford and Billy George Harmon.
Robert Harmon (1899-1972), son of George and Emma, married Alma Gulley in 1921 and had Marion Henry, Mildred, Helen and Nola and a child who preceded them. They lived in Nimmons until 1936 when they moved to Michigan, and later Mississippi.
Raymond Harmon (1903-1941), son of George and Emma, married Mary Alma Sisk McClure and had William Thomas, Raymond Lonnie, James Earl and Winifred Madison “Mack” Harmon. Raymond died in a Poplar Bluff hospital and is also buried in Mitchell Cemetery.
Welby Harmon (1906-1984), son of George and Emma, married Lyda E. Kemper in 1935 and had six children-Welby Eugene, Van Harold, Jamie A. Devine, Mary Lee Lanning, David Franklin and Leroy Harmon. Welby and Lyda are also buried in Mitchell Cemetery.
Marion Thomas Harmon (1908-1997) was born in Kentucky and died in the Piggott Hospital and is buried in Mitchell Cemetery. He was married to Ruth Harvill in 1931 and was a member of the Nimmons Baptist Church. Their children were Kenneth Howard, John Thomas, Inez Harmon Pierce, Wanda Lou Willis Wade, Bonnie Harmon Todd, Maxine Harmon Pace and Bernice Toombs Wiseman.
Carrie Opal Harmon (1910-1999), daughter of George and Emma, was born in Kentucky and died in Harrisburg, Ill. She married Elvis Ramsey in 1926 and had six children-Robert, Franklin, Elizabeth, Faye, Connie Jack and Mrs. John Van Denabel. She is buried in Eldorado, Ill.
Ezra Aldin “Dock” Harmon (1912-1982), son of George W. and Emma, was born in Cane Hill, Mo., and died in the Corning Community Hospital. In 1930 he married Nettie Elizabeth Clark and they had Aldon Owen “Sonny” Harmon, Raymond, Danny, Geraldine Malherin, Geneva “Jennie” Ward and Wilma Read.
Ruth “Ruthie” Harmon, daughter of George and Emma, married a Hagel from Arizona and later a Snell. No other information is available about her.
George Leonard (1919-2003), son of George and Emma, married Ida Lewis and Ellen Eubanks Williams (1921-2008). His children were Patsy Shreer, Pauline Lucchetti and Wendell. His stepchildren were Netta Adams, Gary Williamson, Linda Woolery, Rhonda Beasley, Crystal Current and David Williamson.
James R. Harmon, son of George and Emma, left no information to be found.
William Cyprus Harmon (1886-1969), son of James William and Rebecca Eastham Harmon, and brother to George Washington Harmon, came to Clay County with his brother in 1911 and is listed on the 1920 Census. He married Nancy Cathern Bryant in Adair County, Ky. Their children were George Chrisley, Doyle Vernon, Echlee, Sarah Elizabeth Tabor, Ruby Crawford, Martha Williams and three infants.
George Chrisley Harmon (1920-1999), son of William Cyrus, was born in Nimmons and died in the Piggott Nursing Center. He married Maude Davis (1922-1992) and Mrs. Ruth Strang. His son was Donald Ray Harmon (1941-1955) and his step-children were Joy and Bobby Harmon.
Doyle Vernon Harmon (1928-1956), son of William Cyrus, is also buried in Mitchell Cemetery.
Echlee Harmon (-1991), son of William Cyrus, married Elsie E. Harvell in 1926 and had Glen J., William Henry, Myrtle Beaty and J.D. Harmon.
Sarah Elizabeth Harmon (1910-1983), daughter of William Cyrus, married a Tabor and had Everett, Lee, Bill, Nancy Ramirez, Flo Milburn, Jimmie, Jewel and Kathleen Tabor. She is buried in the Oak Ridge Cemetery, Kennett, Mo.
Ruby E. Harmon (1912-1997) was born in Kentucky and died in Hartsville, Tex. She married Earl Crawford in 1929 and had Glenda, Charles, Nolan and Ray Crawford. She is also buried in the Mitchell Cemetery.
Martha Harmon married a Williams and her last known address was Qulin, Mo.
