John Fitzgerald was born about 1828 in Ireland and died before 1900 in Clayton Co., Arkansas and is buried in the Fitzgerald Family Cemetery on the old Tabor farm south of Pollard near the Cummins Chapel Community. John was married to Margaret (1828-after 1900) (last name unknown) in Ireland and they had two children before they decided to seek a home in America about 1855. One child died at sea and James K. was the surviving son. They first lived in Alabama and Patrick was born there in Nov., 1854. In 1860 and 1870 the family was found in Shelby Co., Tenn. where John and Louis Jefferson were born. By 1880 the family had moved to a hill farm in Arkansas. John and Margaret’s children were a son who died a sea, James K. Fitzgerald; Patrick Fitzgerald, John Fitzgerald, and Louis Jefferson Fitzgerald.
James (Jim) K/ Fitzgerald (1850-1905_, son of John and Margaret, was born in England and is buried in the Fitzgerald Cemetery. His first marriage was to Mary Jane – (1863-1894), and they had John Thomas (1886-1918), Patrick H. (1888-1938), and Jacob J. (1891- ). James K.’s second marriage was to Mrs. Mary Emaline (Carmen) Burns “Emma” in Sept. 1897, and they had Clarence Columbus Fitzgerald (1900-1988). Emma had been married to Alfred Leroy Burns and had Mary E. B., Lee A., Elva S., William O., and Dixie E. Burns. James K. was teaching school in 1880 and was neutralized in 185?. He is buried in the Fitzgerald Cemetery.
Patrick “Pat” Fitzgerald (1854-1905) was born in Alabama and married Isabela McLeskey (1860-1894), daughter of Wm. Winslow and Mary Ann Mays McLeskey, in Clay County. Patrick is buried in the Fitzgerald Cemetery, and she is buried in Mars Hill Cemetery. Their children were (1) Margaret Ann Fitzgerald (1881-1934) married John W. Parks and had Cora J. who married Edgar Haywood; Ora L. married Allison Hillyer and had nine children; Claude Clarence Parks married Lena Laura Burns and lived in Nimmons until moving to Piggott in 1967; Ida Francis Parks married William Henry Mulherin; Robert N.Parks; and John P. Parks. (2) Cora I. Fitzgerald (1882-1923) was married in 1901 to Edd M. Jinkins and had Jeff D. Jinkins. Her second marriage was to Mr. Linn and she had Garry G. Linn. (3) J. W. (John “Buck”) Fitzgerald (1889-1965) married Fladys Blance Jenkins and had Pauline Geneva Harris (Charley) and Gene Lee Fitzgerald. (4) Malinda Fitzgerald (1894-Aug. 1894) died at age one month. (The mother died in childbirth with Malinda.)

John and Tennessee are buried in Cummins Chapel Cemetery. They had these children: John H. Fitzgerald married Kit Warren in 1903, Mary G. Fitzgerald, Henry Fitzgerald (1884-1891), and an infant daughter (1893-1893).
Louis Jefferson Fitzgerald (1861-1919), son of John and Margaret, was born in Tennessee and married Martha Ann Harris (1860-1927) in Clay County. Louis is buried in Cummins Chapel. They had these children: Judge W. Fitzgerald (1884-1914); John Eli Fitzgerald (1886-1967) married Grace ---- and they are buried in Cummins Chapel; Abner R. Fitzgerald (1889- ); Flora (Florence) C. Fitzgerald (1893-1978) married Joe F. Kirk and they are buried in Cummins Chapel; Martha L. Fitzgerald (1896-1989); and Rachel R. Fitzgerald (1899-1993) married Jesse Edwards and they are buried in Cummins Chapel.
