James Deniston (1838-1910) was born in Ballard Co., Ky. to John and Dorotha (Puckett) Deniston and his father was reared in Washington Co., Virginia. James was first married to Eliza Brown in Kentucky and had Francis A. , John W., Sarah D., Noah A. Deniston and a child unlisted in the “Biographical and Historical Memoirs of N. E. Ark.” Eliza died in 1868 and James married Mary Elizabeth Welch (1853-1930), a native of Illinois but who was reared in Obion Co., Tenn., in Cape Girardeau where he resided a year, and they were in Stoddard Co., Mo. two years. In 1870, their first child was born in Stoddard Co. They were in Oak Bluff, Greene Co., Ark. in 1874 when another child was born. HE bought 280 acres of raw land with about 125 acres cleared, all good bottom land. The family shows up on the Clay CO. Census in 1880. James and Mary had Isbell, Ada, Bernetta Jane (Katie), James Rhoda, Ida Mae, Jimmie Ann, Stonewall Jackson, Scott Tom, George Andy, and Effie Mae. The family settled in the Blooming Grove Community, north of Rector. James was a Master Mason, a Baptist Church deacon, and a school board director for over ten years, and is buried in Blooming Grove Cemetery along with several family members.

John W. Deniston (1863- ), son of James and Eliza, married Dora Jane Glasgow, daughter of M. C. and Mary Francis Glasgow, and his second marriage was to Nannie Howell Norris in 1918. Dora had 13 children: (1) Sarah Francis married Jacob Eldridge Morrow in 1905 and had four daughters: MRs. Orval Birchett, MRs. Furman Parrish, Mrs. Lillian Crews, and MRs. Austin McCoy. (2) General Noah Deniston (1885-1945), son of James and Eliza, married Sarah Ethel Wright and had several children. The three survivors were Orville Deniston, manager of the Kroger Store in Rector, who married Ruth Elizabeth Janes, daughter of Thomas A. and Linnie (Sides) Janes and had John and Martha Lynne Taylor; Essie Deniston, and Phyllis Deniston. (3) Arthur Webster Deniston (1887-1980) married Bertha Sinks in Oct., 1909 and Cordelia (Delia) Norris in April, 1919. HE had Doyal E., and Delphia Hayes. (4) Charles Deniston (1889-1970). (5) Ollie E. Deniston (1891- ). (6) Dollie Deniston (1896-1986) married Charles Jackson (Sig.) Delaney in 1916 and had four children: Herbert, Donald, Oneda Curtis, and Irene Taylor. (7) Maud V. Deniston (1898- ) married Jewell Hester SPinger abd had Catherine ?, Mary E., Agnes A., and Unis D. (8) Beulah E. Deniston (1899-1920) married John B. Manchester in 1916 and they had Myrl and Lawrence. She died young and he married Martha Evans and lived in Flint. (9) Thad Deniston (1902- ) married Imogene Harmon and lived in Jonesboro and had Doyle, Kenneth, and Thelma. (10) Delbert Dewey Deniston (1903-1980) married Ruby L. Howell and had Dorothy. (11) Stephen Deniston (1906- ). (12) Ethel B. Deniston (1907-1990) married OAther Lee Hayes in 1926. (13) Eunice Deniston (1913-2002) married Enoch Stackhouse and died in Orange Co., Calif.
Sarah D. Deniston (1864 Ky.- ), daughter of James and Eliza, needs a married name to trace. Her marriage burned in the Clay Co. Courthouse fire.
Noah A. Deniston (1865-1938), son of James and Eliza, was born in Kentucky and came to Clay County with his parents. He married Ann Eliza Winchester, daughter of Abraham and Francis J. (Crews) Winchester and had Bertha Francis Hamilton, Bonny C., and Delbert Deniston.
Isabell Deniston (1870-1920), daughter of James and Mary E., married James V. Harmon in 1899 and he died in 1908 and is buried at Blooming Grove Cemetery. She married Albert Carroll Hill in 1913, and she died in 1920 and is buried in Blooming Grove.
Ada Deniston (1893-1954), daughter of James and Mary, married Oliver B. Gwyn in 1891 and had Frank O., O. Berley, Judge J., Thomas G., J. Don Deniston, and Myrtle Gwyn Newport. The family moved from Kennett, Mo., to Flint, Mich. in 1928 and Ada died there.
Bernetta Jane (Katie) Deniston (1875- ) married William O. Green and had Lonnie E., Jesse I., Ida E., Rudy J., Charles Allen, and Eula Lee Green. Beulah is buried in Salem Cemetery, south of Boydsville.

Stonewall Jackson Deniston (1880-1965), son of James and Mary, married Minnie Rhue Gaines and had Verney W. married Freida Stokes, Vera who married Buron J. Wolf, James married Dorothy Sue Akin, sTonewall, Jr. married Mary Kathleen Wright, and Jewel H. Deniston.
Scott Tom Deniston (1882-1959), son of James and Mary, married Nora Rodery and had Aaron, Eva Irene Jones, and Louis Cecil Deniston.
George Andy Deniston (1885-1959), son of James and Mary, married Nora Edna Gatewood and had Elmer, Alton, Margaret Raymond, Hallie Fleming, Lavada, Vela Stewart, and Nela Christian.
Effie Mae Deniston (1886-1908) married Jerry Fulks and had Corbett and Gertrude.
