Samuel Bond Vincent, Sr. (1836-1903) was born in Tennessee and died in Clay County and is buried beside his second wife in Liberty Hill Cemetery and first shows up on the 1860 Greene Co. Census in Concord Township. In 1880 and 1900 he is in Oak Bluff Township. Sam was first married to Jane ----- in Arkansas and had two children: John Riley Vincent and Martha Alice Vincent. Sam’s second marriage was to Elizabeth Imogene Cox (1853-1883), and she is shown on the 1880 census. Elizabeth is the mother of Cullen Martillas Vincent, Albert Wesley Vincent, Emaline Elizabeth Vincent, and Samuel B. Vincent, Jr. Sam’s third marriage was to Morre O. ----- (1885- ) and they had George Lafayette Vincent and Carl M. Vincent. Samuel’s funeral services were at the Church of Christ in Rector.
John Riley Vincent (1856-1939), son of Samuel and Jane, married Ida Edith Kimmie in 1890, and they are buried in the Kyler Cemetery in Batesville, Ark. where they last lived. Their children were Ilbert L, Flora, Ora Edith, Elsie Marie, Elza, and Valla Belle Vincent. Ida Edith was a niece of Samuel and Cathern Randleman of Rector.
Martha Alice Vincent (1869- ), daughter of Samuel and Jane, has not been found.
Cullen M. Vincent (1873-1953), son of Samuel and Elizabeth, married Zora B. McClure in June, 1923 in Lawrence Co., Ark. Both were from Rector, ages 50 and 40. They are buried in Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector.
Albert Wesley Vincent (1875-1938), son of Samuel and Elizabeth, was first married to I. Lisbeth (Lizzie) Meharg (1880-1909) in April, 1900. In 1910 they were living in Blue Cane, Ark. and ha three children: Oren Lehman married Effie Mae Boyd; Homer Wesley married Loyse Oakley and had six children; and Loyd Vincent. Albert died in Greene County but is buried in Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector. (The 1910 census does not agree with the date of Lizzie’s death on her tomb stone.) Albert was married the second time to Bertha Vincent Mar. 1, 1915, and her children were Harold Trice Vincent who married Nancy Pack, Ruby A. Douglas and Florence A. and was living in St. Louis in 1940; and Dorothy Nadine Vincent. Albert’s third marriage was to Helen Wilcher (1903-1985) Sept. 5, 1919. Helen had these children: Albert Vernon, Wilford (1926-1933), and James Dean. On the 1940 Clay Co. Census Helen was a widow and working as a seamstress with the WPA, and her son Albert Vernon was living with her. Helen is also buried at Rector.
Emaline Elizabeth Vincent (1877-1967), daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth, was a retired business woman and lifetime resident of Rector and never married. She died at the Community Methodist Hospital at Paragould and has a double stone at Rector with a cousin, Miss Hilda M. Cox (1908-1985), who lived with her. Emaline left a will, and she left a trust to the University of Arkansas.
Samuel Bond Vincent, Jr. (1880-1947), son of Samuel and Elizabeth, was married in Jan., 1909 to Francis Ellen Meharg, daughter of John T. and Nancy Meharg. Their children were Lillian E. (1905- ) married a Landers; Linnie Pearl (1905-1916) married James Leo Hatcher and had Olin and Sam Vincent Hatcher; and Dorothy Vincent married Melvin Alstadt and had Ben, Bill and Marily.
