Andrew Jackson Caldwell (1834-1894), son of Joseph and Rebecca Wallace Caldwell, came with his wife, Sarah Jane Scott Osburn Caldwell, and his first four children to what is now Clay County before his fifth child, James Howard Caldwell, was born in Dec. 1874). Andrew and Sarah had these children: Robert Scott, Amanda R., Mary Ida, Joseph Walker, and James Howard. Sarah Jane died July 9, 1881 and is buried in Liberty Hill Cemetery.
Andrew Jackson Caldwell then married Donnie Parsons sometime after 1881 and they had Martha Elizabeth, George Luther, and Sarah Caldwell according to Ancestry. Andrew J. Caldwell is buried in Liberty Hill Cemetery, and dates for Donnie and information on the children have not been found. The marriage would have burned in the courthouse fire. Their names were not found on the 1900 Clay Census.
Robert Scott Caldwell (1867-1924), son of A. J. and Sarah, was born in Obion Co., Tenn. and died in Clay County. He married Ginsy (Jennie) Anne Gibbs (1868-1940), daughter of Edward Porter and Cynthia Smith Gibbs, in 1890 and they had 12 children: (1) Ollie Lee Cladwell married Carney J. Jones and had Garlan Riley, Fred, Marcelle Hamelback, and Paul C. Jones, and a son who died in infancy; (2) Edward Franklin Caldwell married Della Mae Mitchem and had Glenn G., John R., Claudie V., Francis married John Canfield, LaVonda Wright, and Mary Lee Caldwell and they all lived in Michigan; (3) Stella Devora Caldwell married Wade H. McElmurry and had five children including Walter H., Augusta Narene Smih, Wilma Jean, an infant child; (4) Tollie L. Robert Caldwell married Lillie Mae Hall Crane and had Robert, Betty, Abernathy, Tolly Rex, and Billy Don Caldwell, Walter Lee Crane and Lavern Crane Deering; (5) Delma J. (Pete) Caldwell married Mary Rose Mitchem and moved ot Michigan in 1926. She was first married to Vilas H. Hendricks in 1921 and had Edna Hendricks Crown; (6) Frances A. (Fannie) Caldwell married Cleo E. Shelton and had six children. They lived in BArdswell, Ky. in 1969; (7) George Washington Caldwell married Eula V. Board in Michigan, and they are buried in Wayne Co., Mich.; (8) Mary Lucille Caldwell, a twin, married James Vermal Matthews and had four children; (9) Bob Caldwell, a twin, died young; (10) Jinny Caldwell, no information; (11) William Andrew Caldwell, no information; and (12) Beatrice Caldwell, no information.
Amanda R. Caldwell (Dec. 1868-Dec. 1868), daughter of A. J. and Sarah, was born and died Dec. 24.
Mary Ida Caldwell (1870-1896), daughter of A. J. and Sarah, married Beverly Gibbs, a brother to Ginsy Ann Gibbs Caldwell who married Robert Scott Caldwell. Mary Ida had Ira Luther and Ida Gibbs who died in childbirth.
Joseph Walker Caldwell (1872-1902), son of A. J. and Sarah, married Etta Wayne and she died in childbirth having Amzie James Caldwell in Nov. 1896. Amzie (1896-1951) married Sallie Ann Hitt (1904-1998) in May 1924 in Clay County. He was a veteran of WWI and is buried in the Piggott Cemetery. They had two sons: William Eugene and Wayne Hitt Caldwell. In the 1900 Clay Census, Amzie was living with his uncle and aunt, Robert Scott and Ginsy Caldwell.
James Howard Caldwell (1874-1948), son of A. J. and Sarah, married Emma Mae Davis and had an infant son, James Robert.
Martha Elizabeth Caldwell (1876-1897), daughter of A. J. and Donnie, died at the age of 21.
Sarah Caldwell (1877- ), daughter of A. J. and Donnie, died perhaps as an infant.
George Luther Caldwell (1879- ), son of A. J. and Donnie, went into the military and never came back. It is believed he went to Canada.
Charles Caldwell (1886-1936), son of A. J. and Donnie and no information was found.
