Keep an Eye Out for ArmywormsPosted Thursday, August 25, 2016, at 10:11 AM
Residents across Northeast Arkansas may have noticed an increase in one seasonal pest recently, as armyworms have begun to show-up. We at the Clay County Extension office would like to remind everyone how important it is for landowners to be on the lookout.
In the past couple of days the armyworms have started to show up in large numbers in troublesome areas, such as pastures and lawns. It's important to be on the look out for these pests, as they can cause a lot of damage. The threshold for these particular worms is just three for each square foot. The MP144 bulletin is available online, or at the local county extension office, to view available treatment options.
Those wanting additional information may call, or stop by, the offices in Piggott or Corning. The phone number for the office in Piggott is 598-2246.
