April 10, 2009
This photo by Brent Sanders was submitted for our Ice Storm 2009 book, and barely missed the cut.
Debbie Crow submitted several great pics, like this. One of her best is found in the Ice Storm 2009 book.
Derek Benjamin submitted a variety of interesting pics, including the cover photo for the Ice Storm 2009 book. This one just missed being included.

Frank Staples submitted over 100 pics, this one just missed being included in the book.
Grace Beaver submitted this back yard scene, pardon the date stamp...all photos with those had be processed to remove the date stamp before they could be used. Some couldn't be used because of the date stamp or low quality.
Jeff Puckett took this photo of the courthouse shelter, which became a safe haven for many following the ice storm.
Kenneth Renshaw captured this shot of icicles going in two directions.
This photo by Linda Bland is a great example of the complete coverage the ice afforded.
We included one horse photo in the Ice Storm 2009 book, this shot by Lynette Johnson was a close runner-up.
MeChelle Conley submitted this pretty tree shot, it just missed the cut for the book.
Paula Blackwell's home is surrounded by old growth hardwood, so it wasn't hard for her to find interesting shots like this. Another of her yard scenes is found in the Ice Storm 2009 book.
Despite an extended power outage the staff of Piggott Community Hospital remained on the job, and stood by the community despite the conditions. Hats off to them all, from top to bottom.
Richard Claus shows how many residents were forced to improvise for the short term.
Trena Zalite had several great pics of the ice storm, and has several in the Ice Storm 2009 book. This is a great example of the pure destruction the ice brought.
