The Lady Mohawk volleyball teams returned to the hardwood as the month began, and started the process of conditioning for the coming season.
Football practice got underway for the Mohawk football squad in early August too.
Fry Equipment marked their 40th anniversary, and Bob Fry (with glasses) had a chance to entertain old friends and new.
Oh by the way, there was a fish fry at the 40th anniversary party at Fry Equipment.
There also was a slideshow of photos from the past 40 years, including this shot of the original partners James Morris (left) and Bob Fry.
These guys are still on the job, and don't look a day older.
It was brother against brother as the young Dixon boys squared-off in the pee wee demolition derby at the Clay County fairgrounds.
Most of the spectators at the demolition derby were given some of the dirt from the arena to carry home as a keepsake..in their hair and on their clothes and skin.
The derby was a dirt-slinging good time, and enjoyed near perfect weather. The final event of the season will be held Sat. Sept. 19 at the conclusion of the Clay County Fair.
Professors from the ASU Heritage Studies program visited the Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Educational Center in August for their annual retreat. Dr. Ruth Hawkins (center left) hosted as the program director, Dr. Clyde Milner (far left) presided.
The Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting at Life Strategies Counseling in Piggott. Afterward the local office hosted an open house.
