2010 Piggott Heritage Park Car Show
July 14, 2010
This year's show kicked-off with a barbecued chicken wing feed for the early birds, provided by Kennett National Bank and the Emmanuel Baptist Church of Piggott.
Early Saturday morning things were quiet, but that would change as over 300 entries would fill the park.
Volunteer Sue and chamber secretary Lynette put one of the mules to good use.
2007 and 2008 Best of Show winner Turk McVey brought this entry to the 2010 event but failed to bring home any major awards--a testament to the quality of this year's entries.
There was a lot of action under the "big top" as volunteers sold t-shirts and the concession stand got into full swing.
Pin striper Tom Rainbow was a new addition, and spent the day doing jobs for those in attendance.
There was something for everyone, including more entries from the "rat rod" genre.
As I said, something for everyone. Check out the crowd of cars starting to build in the background.
The folks from Jackson, Tenn. again brought the most cars and people to this year's event.
Part of one of the groups from the St. Louis area, including the family of the 2009 best of show winner Ken Stricklin.
Although it was a bit warm for this year's show, Heritage Park is a great place for the event.
Murry Exum's 1940 Ford was the first car entered in the local show back in 1998. Murry maintains the number one entry each year, and is already registered for the 2011 event.
Kids, cars and candy...the annual cruise has become a favorite for both spectators and participants.
Calvin Howell of Bolivar, Tenn. and his Prowler are car show regulars.
The honorary mayor of Heritage Park, Harold Callery, makes his way to the square just ahead of Saturday evening's rain shower.
2009 Best of Show winner Ken Stricklin and his Ford.
After the rain shower cooled things down a big crowd gathered on the square for music by Kenny and the Flashbacks.
The Russell family checks out the entries under the lights on the Piggott square.
