Patriotic theme part of upcoming Christmas parade

A brigade of United States flags, carried by area youth, will honor America as part of Rector's fifth annual Christmas parade, set to begin at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, in downtown Rector. Purchased by the Rector Area Chamber of Commerce in a project a decade ago, the flags usually are seen lining Rector's Main Street and Highway 49 for holidays and other special events. Annie O. Lucius, 94, of the Paragould Nursing Center, formerly of Rector, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, at Paragould Nursing Center. Mrs. Lucius was born Dec. 22, 1906, to the late James Frances Reese and Lurinnie Fielder Reese and was married Jan. 31, 1925, in Chickasaw County, Miss., to Joe Thomas Lucius, who preceded her in death in 1986. Timothy David Mode, 29, of 302 East Allen Drive, Rector, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2001, in a car accident near Marmaduke. A member of the Church of Christ, he was born Feb. 25, 1972, in Paragould and was employed at Kelly Electric in Kennett, Mo.
