Two Lady Mohawk's named as "Queens of Hardwood" (High School Sports ~ 05/16/07)
Friday night the top senior high school volleyball players in Northeast Arkansas gathered at the Valley View gym for a charity match. The event was billed as the "Queens of the Hardwood," and raised over $2,600 for the Jonesboro City Youth Ministry. This week featured special graduation issues in several of the years we highlight in this column, so best wishes to the classes of 1967, 1977, 1982 and 1987. 1967 Nearly eleven inches of rail fell on the Piggott area the second week of May in 1967. I don't like mice. Actually, I don't like most rodents, not even squirrels. Yeah, I know that's nearly blasphemous in this neck of the woods. I've eaten squirrel, too. I that statement doesn't carry the same sort of weight as it did, say when I was in California--you should have seen the reactions from them--but many of our younger generations around here have never tasted it...

The PHS gym was alive with music last Thursday evening, as the band department hosted their annual spring concert. Miss Manly Mohawk 2007 crowned at PHS

Nicki Wicker of Piggott will teach junior high math and Elliot Jacobs of Jonesboro will be the new head football coach and physical education instructor.
