Special Train visit to promote Operation Lifesaver

For the second year in a row, a special Union Pacific passenger train will visit Northeast Arkansas next week to promote highway-railroad crossing and pedestrian safety through the Operation Lifesaver program. Spring Fling Coming to Fairgrounds

In an effort to raise awareness about the annual fair, and to generate funds for he continued upkeep of the fairgrounds in Piggott, the Clay County Fair Association is hosting the first annual "Spring Fling" this weekend. Set-up for the event will begin at noon Friday, and at 6:30 p.m. there will be lawnmower races in the arena at the fairgrounds. Admission to the lawnmower races is $5 for everyone older than the age of five...
Piggott Heritage Park Car Show and Cruise plans complete

An annual favorite returns to Northeast Arkansas Saturday, May 22, with the 12th edition of the Piggott Heritage Park Car Show and Cruise. The all day show-and-shine car show will be held on the grounds of Heritage Park, on the west edge of Piggott. The event, now sponsored by the Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce, has become a favorite of both participants and fans alike, routinely drawing hundreds of entries and thousands of spectators...
Mohawks qualify for regional

The Piggott Mohawks split games in the district tournament at Corning in the past week, beating Hoxie 12-10 to advance to the semi-finals and then falling to top-seeded Manila 6-11 Monday afternoon. More importantly, the win over the Mustangs earns the Tribe a spot in this week's regional tournament at Tuckerman. The Piggott Mohawk track program participated in the district meet at Earle recently, and qualified two runners for last week's state meet at Prescott. Two alternates from PHS also made the trip to Prescott. At the district meet at Earle recently Piggott's Jorge Bautista took first place in the mile run, and thus qualified for the state meet. ...
