Hulen Haywood, 58, of Piggott died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2001, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

He was born Sept. 27, 1942, in Piggott, the son of the late Henry and Izalia R. Rogers Haywood.

He married Danna Haywood on Aug. 31, 1963.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Waynard and Gerald, and three infant sisters.

He was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Piggott.

He is survived by his wife, Danna; three children, Kim, Susan and Heath; two grandchildren, Connor and Caroline; four brothers, Roger Haywood and wife, Diane, of McDougal, Paul Haywood and wife, Liz, of Corning, James Haywood and wife, Renee, of Sacramento, Calif., and Boyce Haywood and wife, Barbara, of Jerome, Mich.; six sisters, Alma Joyce Anderson and husband, Norman, of Little Rock, Sonya Sue Haywood, Elaine Smart, Carolyn Galyean and husband, Bill, and Wilma Ross and husband, Gerald, all of Piggott, and Ella Jean Burnett and husband, Sonny, of Nashville, Tenn.; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, in Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Joe Payne and Mike Winberry officiating.

Burial was in Piggott Cemetery with Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were nephews Brad Haywood, Steve Haywood, Neal Galyean, Travis Anderson, David Anderson, Mike Smart, Jerry Ross and Eddie Burnett.

Honorary pallbearers were Alan Scott, Leroy Thompson, Marshall Potts, Richard Simmons, James Engle, Tommy Hardcastle, Bobby Shanklin and Larry Thrasher.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association or the First General Baptist Church in Piggott.
