Laura May Eaton, 83, of Rector died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.

She was born Aug. 8, 1919, in Rector, the daughter of the late John Sullivan Berry and Mabel (Church) Berry.

She was a lifelong member of the community and was a homemaker. She was a member of Glaub-Lone Holly Extension Homemakers Club, Sunday school teacher, and Mary's Chapel General Baptist Church. She loved quilting and taking care of her rose garden.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Manuel Eaton of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, John Earl and Donna Carol Eaton of Greenbrier and Kenneth and Janice Eaton of Leachville; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Peggy and Vern Settlemoir of Sherwood, Carolyn and Steve Rippy of Rector and Sharon Gatewood of Bahrain; three brothers, Charlie Berry of Bakersfield, Calif., Ebert Berry of Flint, Mich., and Finis Berry of Jonesboro; three sisters, Lucy Ray of Campbell, Frances Beckley of Rector and Robilee Whitlock of Eugene, Oregon; 11 grandchildren, Keith, Barry, Scott, Amy, Rebekah, Rob, Jeremy, Travis, Jeni, Heather and Sara; and 10 great-grandchildren, Hilary, Brodie, Kayla, Morgan, Cory, Chloe, Breanna, Collin, Hunter and Jayden.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, at Rector First General Baptist Church with Bro. Kenny Burns and Bro. Mark Book officiating.

Burial was in Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector with Irby Funeral Home of Rector in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Keith Settlemoir, Barry Settlemoir, Scott Eaton, Travis Eaton, Rob Johnson and Jeremy Johnson.
