Melissa Ann Thomas McAfee

Melissa Ann Thomas McAfee, 40, of Caraway died Wednesday, March 12, at St. Bernards Medical Center. She had lived in Monette prior to moving to Caraway three years ago.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Meagan McAfee; her father, Alvin Thomas; her paternal grandparents, Lloyd and Opal Thomas and her maternal grandparents.

She is survived by her husband, Tim McAfee of Caraway; three sons, Garrick McAfee of Caraway, Steven Paul Griffin of Step Rock, Ark., and Matthew Ray Griffin of Step Rock, Ark.; her mother and stepfather, Ida and A.C. Dean of McDougal; her foster parents, Laban and Lorene Brown of Black Rock; three brothers, Curtis Thomas of Mt. Vernon, Ill., Terry Thomas of Enola, Ark., and Leslie Thomas of Jonesboro, and two sisters, Carolyn Loggains of Paragould and Dena Gage of Paragould.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 15, at Emerson Chapel in Lake City with Bro. J.T. Ashby and Bro. Jerrod Whittington officiating. Burial followed in Caraway Cemetery. Pallbearers were Brad Loggains, Rick Whaley, Scott McLaughlin, Joe Holcomb, Bill Dollars and Mitchell Holcomb. Honorary pallbearers were her nieces and nephews.

Emerson Funeral Home of Lake City was in charge of the arrangements.
