Piggott faculty lose to Rector
Last Tuesday evening the Rector High School faculty beat the Piggott High School faculty 97-87 in a benefit basketball game at the Rector High School gymnasium.
The proceeds from the game were split between the two schools to benefit each school's athletic department.
The Piggott faculty led after one quarter 23-17. Calieb Morris scored eight points for Piggott in this frame
Spurred on by seventeen second quarter points by Shane Robinson, Rector took a 43-34 halftime lead. The third quarter was a nip-and-tuck affair that saw Rector emerge with a 67-65 lead at its end. Jeff Priest and Bobby Lewallen respectively scored twelve and nine points for Piggott in this quarter. Lance Mabry and Matt Rabjohn both tallied nine points for Rector in the frame.
In the final frame Rector's Shane Robinson, who was probably the star of the game, wouldn't be denied as he netted thirteen points to help Rector pull away for the ten-point win.
For Rector Robinson had 38 points. Mabry scored 27 points and Rabjohn had 20 points. Brent Maddock scored 4 points and Wade Williams and Superintendent Kelly Scobey each scored 3 points.
Priest paced Piggott with 24 points. Morris had 21 points and Lewallen scored 19 points. Scott Morgan had 7 points, Paul Seegraves and Shawn Hearn each scored 6 points and Mike Book had 4 points.
The game was a fun-filled affair that was a little intense at times. Plans have already been made to give Piggott a chance for revenge next year on their court.
