Wilma Earline Straugh, 78, of Piggott died Wednesday, May 21, 2003, at Piggott Nursing Center.

Mrs. Straugh was born on March 11, 1925, in Carryville, the daughter of William and Ida (nee Parks) Mulherin.

She was united in marriage to Jay Straugh. Mrs. Straugh was a waitress, a cook, a homemaker and a member of the Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Piggott. She was a member of the First Baptist Temple Church in Flint, Mich., prior to her move to the Piggott area.

Mrs. Straugh was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ida Mulherin; and one daughter, Patricia.

She is survived by her husband, Jay Straugh of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Barbara Thomas of Costa Rica; two daughter and sons-in-law, Barbara and Robert Young of Corning and Linda and Steve Winchell of Clarkston, Mich.; one brother, Johnny William Mulherin of Flint, Mich.; one sister, Mary Book of Piggott; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends who mourn her passing.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 24, 2003, at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Mike Book officiating. Burial followed in Nimmons Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jerry Thomas, Jr., Robert James Young, Daniel Vernon Young, David Mulherin, Richard Mulherin and Dennis Templeton.
