She was born Nov. 20, 1917, in the Blue Cane Community near Rector to Albert and Bertha Vincent.
She and her husband, the late Melvin Alstadt, were former joint owners of The Alstadt Farm and Town Market Grocery. Mrs. Alstadt also worked as a rural schoolteacher in the 1940s at Purcell School before World War II. She served as an agent in Rector for the Arkansas State Revenue Office for 14 years until retirement in 1985.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Rector.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert and Bertha Vincent; her husband, Melvin Alstadt; a grandchild, William Cody Alstadt; and an uncle and aunt, B. and Ellen Vincent.
She is survived by two sons and daughter-in-laws, Ben and Jeanette Alstadt of Jonesboro, and Bill and LaDonna Alstadt of Piggott; one daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Larry Cassidy of Fenton, Mo.; one brother, Harold Vincent of Rector; seven grandchildren, John and Brian Cassidy, Jennifer Craft, Cyndee Manchester, Anthony and Jonathan Pickering, and Cristina Shaw; and one great-grandchild, Kane Hagan.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 28, 2003, in the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Rector with Rev. Jim Anderson and James McKeel officiating. Burial followed in Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector. Pallbearers were Joe McKeel, Ben Shaw, Anthony Pickering, John Pickering, Cristina Shaw and Jennifer Craft. Honorary pallbearers were Elvis Rodgers, L.N. Gilbert, Richard Simmons, J.W. Bookout, Bob Cranford, Ott Thomas and Tom Barber.
Mitchell Funeral Home of Rector was in charge of the arrangements.
