Rachel Bridges

Rachel Bridges, 87, of Pollard, died Tuesday, June 24, 2003, in St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.

She was born Dec. 20, 1915, in Greenbrier, Mo., the daughter of the late Fred and Lou Ellen Bostic Pollard.

She was united in marriage to James R. Bridges. He preceded her in death.

She was also preceded in death by three sons, Charles James, Bob James and Jimmy Bridges; three sisters, Alfee Harper, Imola Kelsey and Jewel Floyd.

She is survived by two sisters, Avis Atherton of St. Louis and Ollie Teachner of Granite City, Ill.; one brother, Fred Pollard of Poplar Bluff; 15 grandchildren, Perry Bammerlin, Rita Ollis, Betty Conyers, Larry James, Charles James, Traci Blascoe, Mary Jane Gormen, Rachel Laviolette, Barbara Jacob-Pavi, Jeff James, William James, Bobby James, Kevin James, Dennis James, and a very special grandson, Ted Conyers; and many great-grandchildren, friends, and relatives.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2003, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Loy Culver officiating. Burial followed in New Hope Cemetery in Pollard. Pallbearers were Raymond Conyers, Ted Conyers, Steve Blascoe, Billy Seal, Grover Baker, Perry Bammerlin and Gary Bostic. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.
