Earl James "Cotton" Howell, 81, of Corning died Sunday, July 20, 2003, at his residence.

He was born March 23, 1922, in Piggott, the son of the late Robert James Howell and Olla Marie (Harper) Howell.

He was a farmer, and a member of Morris General Baptist Church.

He married Floy Dissie (Neeley) Howell on Dec.11, 1948.

He was preceded in death by one son, John Franklin Howell; one brother, Jewell Howell; and two sisters, Bessie Masterson and Ruby Deniston.

He is survived by three sons, John Howell of New Matamores, Ohio, Earl "Joe" Howell of Paragould and Wallace "Pete" Howell of Cabot; three daughters, Kathy Howell and Sally Lephiew of Cabot and Bessie Little of Willington, Tenn.; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday (today) at New Hope Cemetery in Pollard with Johnny Bradshaw officiating.

Irby Funeral Home of Rector was in charge of arrangements.
