Gaylon Leon Montgomery, 71, of Piggott died July 24, 2003, at his home in Piggott.

He was born Sept. 2, 1931, in Rector, the son of the late George and Ether Beaver Montgomery.

He was united in marriage to Veila Doris Holland Burnine on Nov. 8, 1969.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Montgomery of Piggott; three daughters, June Jones of Pollard, Sheila Burnine of Piggott and Shirley Glass of Piggott; five grandchildren, Veronica McCluskey, Rae Lyn Jones, Zackery Jones, John and Seth Glass; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 27, 2003, at the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Shelly Elkins officiating. Burial followed in Mitchell Cemetery at Greenway. Pallbearers were Frank Green, Jerry Huff, Pharis Edwards, Charley Cato, Freddie Hartsfield and Bill Kimbrel. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.
