He was born June 28, 1908, in Rector, the son of the late Robert and Minnie Cheatham Neely.
He was united in marriage to Myra Aladine Watson on Feb. 15, 1931. To this union three children were born.
He was a member of the Hopewell General Baptist Church in Greenway.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Wanda Lee Neely; four brothers, Arley Neely, Raymond Neely, Jess Neely and Don Neely; three sisters, Marie Blan, Bertha Cox and Mary Lee Lyles.
He is survived by his wife, Aladine Neely; one daughter, Sue Volk; one son, Dr. Charles Ray Neely, all of Greenway; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Francis Bare of Piggott; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, 2003, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with George Haygood and Boyd Wicker officiating. Burial followed in Mitchell Cemetery in Greenway. Pallbearers were Mark Volk, Kevin Volk, Joe Yates, Jim Gearhart, Houston Fry and Hardin Hill.
Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.
