Special Mohawk celebration to be held Friday at Parker Field

Wednesday, September 17, 2003

In an appreciative showing of respect for past excellence, and with restoring pride and tradition to the Piggott Mohawk football program, a special ceremony will be held prior to Friday night's football game against Corning.

The current Mohawk football staff, along with players and fans alike, will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the 1963 undefeated Piggott football team at 7 p.m.

Players and coaches of the team have been invited to the celebration to be honored and recognized.

"This is an attempt to pay tribute to some of those past Mohawk players and coaches that built the great tradition we are trying to build upon today," a team spokesman said. "We want to show them we are proud of their accomplishments and that their legacy will always be part of the Mohawk football tradition."
