Madeline Virginia Lack Bell

Madeline Virginia Lack Bell, 82, of Piggott died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2003, at Auburn Hills Nursing Home in Mountain Home, Ark., after suffering a stroke two years ago. She was an active member of the First General Baptist Church in Piggott as long as her health permitted.

Mrs. Bell was a blessing to the patients and employees of Auburn Hills. She almost always wore a smile and greeted each person she came into contact with an extended hand of friendship. Mrs. Bell had worked at the Piggott Hospital for many years until she became disabled.

She was born June 13, 1921, in Clay County, the daughter of Thomas and Bertha Lack.

She was united in marriage to Glen Bell on Feb. 1, 1941, in Greenway. To this union three children were born.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen; a grandson, Chad Morris; her parents, Thomas and Bertha Lack; two brothers, Paul Thomas Lack and Dweight Lack; and one sister-in-law, Dorothy Lack.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Juanita Bell of Mountain Home, Ark., and Allan and Patti Bell of Mountain Home, Ark.; one daughter and a son-in-law, Glenda and James Tompkins of Mountain Home, Ark.; six grandchildren, Greg Bell, Rebekkah Crawford and husband, Mel, Kelli Carter and husband, Keith, Kyle Morris, Jason Bell and Tyler Bell; three great-grandchildren, Joshua Morris, Courtney Crawford and Samuel Crawford; and one brother and sister-in-law, Doise and Vernie Lack of Piggott.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday (today), Sept. 24, 2003, in the Irby Funeral Home Chapel with Joe Payne officiating. Burial will follow in Mitchell Cemetery at Greenway. Pallbearers will be Mrs. Bell's grandsons, Greg Bell, Jason Bell, Tyler Bell, Kyle Morris, Keith Carter and Mel Crawford.
