Ella Pauline Burnside

Ella Pauline Burnside, 96, of Piggott, formerly of Walnut Ridge died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, at Piggott Community Hospital.

She was born Feb. 14, 1907, in Ethridge, Tenn., the daughter of the late Bufford and Ella Ann Hardin Buie.

She was united in marriage on Nov. 23, 1941, in Walnut Ridge to Ervin E. Burnside, who preceded her in death on Aug. 4, 1988.

She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Hoxie.

She was also preceded in death by one brother, Ray Buie in 1995; and one sister, Ethel Austin in 1994.

Survivors include two sisters, Clara Kowen of Pollard and Verle Walker of Rockford, Ill.; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, at Higginbotham Chapel in Walnut Ridge with Barry Crain officiating. Interment followed in Whittaker Cemetery near Walnut Ridge.

Higginbotham Funeral Services, Inc., was in charge of the arrangements.
