He was born Feb. 2, 1909, in Pollard to the late William Clayborn Johnson and Mary Jane Brown Johnson.
He was united in marriage to Rachel Lucile Winton on May 14, 1931. They were married 72 years.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Elmer Johnson, Louie Johnson and Garland Johnson; and three sisters, Cora Grider, Nora Pillow and Belle Kisner.
He is survived by his wife, Rachel Lucile Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003, at the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery. A graveside funeral service followed at 11 a.m. at the cemetery with Dr. William Vail officiating.
Cotrell Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements.
