She was born May 9, 1917, in Campbell to John Maynard and Clarice Lawrence Stanley.
She was united in marriage to Russell Porterfield in November of 1974 in Sun City, New Mexico. He preceded her in death in 1987.
She was of the Presbyterian faith. Mrs. Porterfield was a graduate of the University of Illinois. She was a retired director of medical records.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Maynard and Clarice Lawrence Stanley; one sister; and her grandparents, William Wesley and Virginia Riddle Stanley.
She is survived by two daughters, Ann Fridenberg of Springfield, Mo., and Jan Perkins and husband, Rev. Dr. Richard Perkins, of Warrenton, Mo.; one son, Stanley Cargill of Portland, Ore.; 10 grandchildren, Heather Cargill, Thomas Fridenberg, Steve Fridenberg, James Fridenberg, Andy Bopp, Tony Bopp, John Williams, Jim Perkins, Peter Perkins and John Perkins; 10 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Rev. Dr. Richard Freeman of Texarkana, Ark.
Memorial services were held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13, 2003, at St. Matthew's Church in Warson Woods, Mo. Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, in Woodlawn Cemetery at Campbell with Rev. Dr. Richard Freeman officiating. Burial followed in Woodlawn Cemetery in Campbell.
Landess Funeral Home of Campbell was in charge of the arrangements.
