Fun events highlighting holiday fest

Piggott's annual ChristmasFest, sponsored by the Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce, will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6. on the courtsquare.
A spokesperson for the organizing committee said everyone in the community is encouraged to shop locally this holiday season.
Several activities and attractions have been planned for the event. Century Tel will provide complimentary hot dogs and there will be an air castle and an air slide for children to enjoy.
Santa Claus will be on hand for pictures throughout the day and he will be handing out candy canes. There will also be live entertainment during the event at the gazebo.
In addition, the Red Cross Blood Mobile will be set up across from the Post Office.
Many prize giveaways are scheduled throughout the day for school students of all ages, including: a Playstation system and bicycle compliments of Wal Mart, a scooter compliments of Piggott State Bank, a Gameboy compliments of Regions Bank, and various other prizes provided by the Chamber of Commerce.
Christmas Bucks will be given away in the amount of $50 will be held every 15 minutes. Funding for the Bucks will be provided by Piggott State Bank and Regions Bank.
Also, a Chamber of Commerce historical afghan will be given away.
Church groups and other organizations are invited to participate by setting up booths for displays, handouts and giveaways. Vendors are encouraged to set up free booths to sell crafts and other novelties.

Additionally, Piggott Florist, Treasure Chest, and Blue Gypsy will be holding sidewalk and Christmas sales.
The event will kickoff with a Lions Club breakfast at 6 a.m. at the First Methodist Church.
