He was born May 3, 1918, in Nimmons , the son of the late George W. and Emma Head Harmon.
Preceding him in death were his first wife, Ida Lewis Harmon; six brothers, Charlie, Robert, Raymond, Welby, Thomas and Ezra; two sisters, Carrie Ramsey and Ruthie Schnell.
He was a World War II Veteran and a member of Bethel General Baptist Church. He retired from Michigan Seamless in South Lyon, Mich.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen, of the home; two daughters, Patsy Shreer and husband, Herb, and Paulin Luchetti and husband, Bob, of Port Charlotte, Fla.; one son, Wendell Harmon, also of Port Charlotte, Fla.; six stepchildren, Netta Adams and husband, Bill, of San Antonio, Texas, Gary Williamson and wife, Louann, of Piggott, Lynda Woolery and husband, Bill, of Piggott, Ronda Beasley and Jason of Paragould, Crystal Current and husband, David, of Tuscon, Ariz., and David Williamson and wife, Lynette, of South Lyon, Mich.; forty grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; twelve great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Amy Barker of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Vada Moore of Parma, Mich.; one sister-in-law, Ruth Harmon; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003 in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Marston Carpenter and Bobby Carter officiating. Burial was in Nimmons Cemetery in Nimmons. Pallbearers were grandsons, Jeff Mitchell, Tom Woolery, Will Alley, Andy Alley, Kurt Williamson, Joe Williamson, Aaron Mitchell and Sean Mitchell. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of arrangements. Viewing was held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003.
