Hurley B. Carter, 84, of Jonesboro died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003, in the Paragould Nursing Center in Paragould.

He was born Oct. 16, 1919, in Warren, Ark.

He was united in marriage to Betty Rouse in Oct. 1993. She preceded him in death on Sept. 9, 2002.

Most of his business career was with M.M. Cohn of Little Rock.

He is survived by his step-children, Bradley Rouse of Jonesboro, Rodney Rouse and wife, Kim, of Piggott, Debra Robertson and Tina Bell and husband, Jeff, all of Jonesboro; eight step-grandchildren, Dana Long of Greensboro, North Carolina, McKenzie Rouse of Jonesboro, Kalem and Joe Marshall Rouse of Piggott, Cory Robertson of Fayetteville, Kelli Robertson of Conway, Braedon Bell and Christian Bell of Jonesboro; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, 2003, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Charles Cooper officiating. Burial followed in the Piggott Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Ouachita Baptist College.

Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements.
