She was born May 26, 1914, in Monette.
She married D.C. Payne on Nov. 17, 1936.
Mrs. Payne lived in Columbia for the past eight years. Before moving to Columbia, she lived in Poplar Bluff for 13 years and lived in Fagus for about 30 years prior to that.
She was a member at the First Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff and was formerly a member a the Fagus General Baptist Church.
She was also a member of the Poplar Bluff Garden Club. She was homemaker and enjoyed gardening, needlework and reading the Bible.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Sept. 26, 1987.
She is survived by one daughter, Helen Overall of Columbia, Ill.; two sons, Leland Payne of St. Louis, and James Payne of Ghent, W. Va.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 19, 2004, at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Qulin with Rev. Gary Hancock officiating.
Burial followed in Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector.
