Fern Tompkins, 68, of Pollard died Saturday, May 15, 2004, in the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center North.

She was born Oct. 21, 1935, in Qulin. She lived around Qulin and Pollard all of her life.

She was united in marriage to Ray Tompkins on Sept. 1, 1951.

Mrs. Tompkins was a member of Trailer's Chapel General Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Clay County Home Extension Club for several years and had formerly served as president of the club. She was a member of the Cache Bottom Singers and had formerly attended Fagus General Baptist Church. She served as secretary of the Fagus church for 17 years.

She was a homemaker and a farm wife. She loved sewing, singing and cooking.

She is survived by her husband, Ray Tompkins of Pollard; three children, Greg Tompkins of Sheridan, Ark., Sonia Lee of Springfield, La., and Kevin Tompkins of Qulin; two sisters, Betty Brockman of Grand Blanc, Mich., and Judy Hicks of Corning; two brothers, Gail Osborn of Corning and Garry Osborn of Moscow Mills, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 18, 2004, at the White-Sanders Funeral Home in Qulin with Rev. Mark Trout officiating. Burial followed in the Qulin Cemetery.
